Spring Storage in Japan: What People Choose Before a New Season

Spring Storage in Japan: What People Choose Before a New Season

When the air starts to soften and you can feel spring coming, a funny thing happens: people quietly start thinking about storage. Not “buy a bunch of stuff” storage—more like, “let’s make the next chapter feel calm.”

In Japan, late February through mid-March is a classic season for moving, starting school, and resetting routines. Looking back at our last five years of orders during this period, one trend stays steady: customers choose storage that’s not too big, fits real rooms, and feels good to use every day.

What people choose in spring: 3 storage favorites

Nagomi 90cm 4-drawer Chest (Japanese Hinoki Cypress)

This is our most-loved original chest—especially for families. The edges are softly rounded, and the drawers are designed without metal rails. Rails can be convenient, but wood-on-wood drawers have a simple kind of longevity: they “settle in” over time.

The material is Japanese hinoki cypress, finished to keep the natural texture. Personally, I always notice the first touch—hinoki has a calm, warm feel that’s hard to describe until you’ve opened a drawer yourself.

Kiri Wood Closet Storage (Paulownia for clothing care)

“Kiri” (paulownia) has been used in Japan for generations to help protect clothing in humid conditions. It’s not a magic shield, but it’s a smart material choice when you care about garments and want a storage space that feels more “protective” than “packed.”

55cm-deep Caster Kiri Chest (flexible storage)

This one is a quiet workhorse: a deeper profile that fits closets and storage rooms well, plus casters so you can move it when life changes. I like this idea—storage doesn’t always need to be “fixed.” Sometimes it should travel with you.

One pattern we see again and again in spring is that people don’t necessarily “bulk buy.” Instead, they pick one piece that fits the room and makes daily life feel simpler—like clearing a little mental space.

Tokyo Furniture Show & Try-Out (March 2026)

Photos and videos help, but furniture still has a “hands-on” truth: the feel of a drawer, the grain of the wood, the softness of a rounded edge. That’s why we’re planning an in-person show where you can see and touch our Japanese storage furniture.

Dates (planned)
March 27, 2026 (Fri) 16:00–18:00
March 28, 2026 (Sat) 12:00–18:00
March 29, 2026 (Sun) 12:00–14:00

Location (planned)
Nishi-Ikebukuro 2-10-6, Toshima-ku, Tokyo

About a 9-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station / Mejiro Station / Shiinamachi Station

At the event, we plan to showcase:
• Nagomi chest series for families
• Japanese kiri wood storage and tansu-style pieces
• A simple display explaining internal structure and materials
• Storage and furniture consultations

If there’s a specific piece you’d like to see in person, please tell us in advance (LINE is fine). We’ll share final venue and exhibit details as soon as everything is confirmed.

Spring is a small reset. When you organize storage first, the rest of the new season tends to feel… lighter. That’s the kind of “quiet improvement” we love.
