Autumn Events in Kyushu

Autumn has fully arrived here in Japan.
Around our company’s area, such as Okawa City in Fukuoka Prefecture and Saga City in Saga Prefecture, there are quite a few large events during the autumn season.

Okawa Mokkou Festival (October 12-14)

From this weekend, October 12th to 14th, the "Okawa Mokkou Festival" will be held.

This festival gathers furniture manufacturers and retailers from both inside and outside of Okawa City, attracting visitors from various regions who are looking for furniture.

There were over 1,000 pieces of furniture on sale, a “Chibikko Woodworking Contest” for elementary school students in Okawa, an exhibition of local high school students' works, a corner displaying the “Dream Furniture” design contest entries, a space to experience woodworking, food and drink stalls, and a stage.

This is amazing work by elementary school students!
The attention to detail and attention to detail was very impressive!

The high school students' works were made jointly with local companies, and many of them were so solid that they could be commercialized!

Dream Furniture
The “Dream Furniture” category included everything from realistic designs to surprising pieces!

Once again, I felt that Okawa is a town of woodworkers, and I have high hopes that there will be craftsmen who will create wonderful furniture in the future!

SAGA 2024 National Sports Festival (October 5-28)

Additionally, in Saga City (about 20 minutes by car or bus from Okawa City), the "SAGA 2024 National Sports Festival & Sports Festival for People with Disabilities" is taking place from October 5th to 28th.

This event, which was previously the National Sports Festival of Japan, is bringing many athletes to Saga City.

Self-Driving Bus Trial

Also, something I personally experienced—there’s a self-driving bus trial available between Saga Station Bus Center and the event venue.

The ride lasts about 10 minutes, and it’s quite fascinating as it’s a Level 4 autonomous driving experiment.

Saga International Balloon Fiesta (October 31 - November 4)

Next up, another event in Saga City is the "Saga International Balloon Fiesta", which will be held from October 31st to November 4th.

This is also a major event, drawing many spectators.

Travel Tips

For those coming from the Kanto region to the Okawa/Saga area, Saga Airport is convenient. There’s also a campaign where you can rent a car for 1,000 yen for 24 hours if you fly into Saga Airport.
Learn more about the campaign

There are five flights a day from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Saga Airport.
From Shanghai, there are three flights a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

From Taipei, there are two flights a week (Sunday, Thursday).
You can also get to Saga from Fukuoka in about an hour by bus.

We would be delighted if you could consider a trip to Kyushu this autumn.
Our Okawa Furniture Dotcom showroom will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the Mokkou Festival (October 12th–14th), and during the Saga Balloon Festival, it will be open every day except weekends.

Chair Delivery to Hanamatsugama Pottery Studio

The other day, we delivered chairs to Hanamatsugama, a pottery studio in Tsuyazaki Town, Fukuoka Prefecture.

The house is a traditional Japanese-style house, but the light-colored fabric chairs fit surprisingly well. It’s no surprise that a potter would have such great taste!

After that, I visited the company of a friend in nearby Munakata City, Fukumoto Kogyo, where I saw their beautifully organized office.
Although I understand the importance of organization, it’s hard to put into practice (sweat).
