New Arrivals from Okawa Furniture Fair (Laundry Storage, Kotatsu & More)

Recently, I visited the Okawa Furniture Fair held in Okawa City, Fukuoka. Okawa is one of Japan’s well-known furniture-making areas, and at each fair, many makers showcase new designs alongside long-selling classics.
Of course, we don’t add everything we see. We choose items by thinking about real homes and real use—size, practicality, durability, and how well a piece fits into everyday life. Below is a quick introduction to the new products and updates we added this summer.
NEW PRODUCTS 01: Made-in-Japan Laundry Storage (3 types)
Laundry isn’t finished when the washer stops, right?
- Carry dry laundry
- Fold it
- Put it away
Because it’s a daily routine, even small improvements can make life easier. That’s why we added three storage options designed so you can “fold → store” right near your washing machine.
Type A: Center Storage (store tall items like an ironing board)
Available in widths 100 / 140 / 180 cm. The tall center compartment is great for storing items like an ironing board upright.

Type B: Full Storage (maximize storage capacity)
Many size options (width 59–188 cm). Fold laundry on the top surface and store it right below—simple and efficient.

Type C: Sit & Fold (for a more relaxed folding routine)
Available in widths 139 / 159 / 188 cm. If you prefer folding while seated instead of standing, this type may be a great fit.

NEW PRODUCTS 02: Japanese Kotatsu (Yes, even in summer!)
This may sound funny in hot weather, but we added kotatsu.
A kotatsu is a traditional Japanese heated table. In winter, you place a blanket over the frame, and the heater under the tabletop keeps your legs warm—perfect for relaxing at home.
In Japan, demand usually increases around October. In the furniture world, we start preparing earlier, so customers have good options before the season peaks. Modern kotatsu are also designed so that, with the blanket removed, they can look and work like a normal living-room table.

We try to choose kotatsu that don’t look like “winter-only furniture”—pieces you can enjoy year-round as a regular table too.
NEW PRODUCTS 03: All-Paulownia Storage (TO Series)
In Japan, paulownia wood has long been used for clothing storage because it is lightweight and helps protect items from humidity. We added two new variations to the 100 cm-wide all-paulownia “TO” series, so you can choose based on your storage needs and available height.

PAGE RENEWAL: Storage Case Page Update (Hina Dolls)
Not a new product, but we renewed the product page for a caster-equipped paulownia storage case often used for Hina dolls (traditional Japanese dolls displayed in spring). We reorganized the information to make it easier to understand.
NEW PRODUCTS 04: Cedar Slatted Bed “Shuri” (can become a bench later)
This is a slatted bed made from cedar wood from Kyushu. One thing I like about it is that when your lifestyle changes, it can still remain useful—it can also be used as a bench.
Furniture is something many people use for 10 or 20 years. During that time, family size and living habits often change. I believe “furniture that can adapt” is a great idea.
New Service: OkawaKagu AI Concierge (Ask even at night)
As we add more items, another question naturally comes up:
“Which one is best for me?”
So we started a new service called OkawaKagu AI Concierge.
For example, you can type requests like:
“Which TV board can hold an 85-inch TV?”
“Please find furniture that fits in this space.”
The AI answers based on our internal product knowledge. You can use it even outside business hours. It’s still improving, but I think it’s a fun and helpful way to get advice when the store is closed.
