A New Name for a New Chapter

In summer 2026, Okawa Kagu Dot Com's international e-commerce store began a new chapter as Interi-An.

We bring the furniture-making skill passed down in Okawa, together with the work of skilled artisans from across Japan, to customers around the world.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

Interi-An is a name we created by combining the English word "Interior" with the Japanese word "an" (庵).

It shows that we are interior specialists, and the sound "An" carries three meanings we want our furniture to deliver.

Sanctuary

The word "an" (庵) means a small, peaceful retreat. We want our furniture to help your home feel like that kind of space, a place where you can breathe easy.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

The Interi-An logo carries our wish for Japanese furniture culture, Okawa craftsmanship, and a home you can feel safe in.

The Roof

The roof on the left side of the logo represents the "an" (庵) in Interi-An.

It calls to mind a small home with a thatched roof, and the quiet, peaceful life that goes with it. It reflects a Japanese sense of calm and a life lived close to nature.

The Hemp Leaf Pattern

The hemp leaf is a traditional Japanese pattern used since ancient times. It is also used in kumiko-inspired joinery on furniture, and it carries wishes for healthy growth, protection, and good health.

At Interi-An, we want to bring furniture made with materials chosen with safety in mind to your home.

We chose the hemp leaf pattern to carry our wish that you and your family live healthy, secure lives.

The House and the Furniture

Okawa City in Fukuoka Prefecture, where we began, is one of Japan's leading furniture-producing regions. It grew through the craft of making chests, cabinets, and other case furniture.

Today, artisans in Okawa still hand-make many pieces of case furniture, including chests, cabinets, and cupboards.

The house and furniture in our logo symbolize Okawa's history and the furniture-making skill still passed down there today.

Interi-An is not a brand created only to showcase Okawa furniture.

Based in Okawa, we connect with skilled artisans and furniture-producing regions across Japan to bring genuine Japanese furniture, along with the culture and stories behind it, to the world.
