The standard 13 cm (5.12-inch) depth was designed with small Japanese books in mind. For larger books, we can adjust the shelf depth and the vertical clearance between shelves.

For example, we can make Labook to accommodate common American trade paperback sizes, such as:

• 5.5 × 8.5 inches (approximately 14 × 21.6 cm)
• 6 × 9 inches (approximately 15.2 × 22.9 cm)

These measurements refer to the book’s cover width and height. These larger formats require a deeper shelf than the standard model.

The aim is to give your books enough room to fit comfortably and be easy to take out, without making the shelf deeper than necessary.

Labook can be made in your choice of solid wood:

• Walnut
• Black Cherry
• Hard Maple
• Japanese Cedar (Sugi), grown in Japan

Choose a wood to complement your existing furniture, or start with the grain and color you enjoy most. For those who would like to bring Japanese-grown wood into their home, Sugi offers another option.

The wood is finished with a urethane coating. Natural variations in grain and color give every shelf its own character.

The standard overall dimensions are 120 cm wide × 13 cm deep × 77 cm high (approximately 47.24 × 5.12 × 30.31 inches).
